The Cat Cafe

I had heard about this cafe where they have cats just hanging around that you can pet. So after gymnastics we took a trip over to the Cat Cafe. There were lots of cats, but the cafe was just okay. First, we waited outside in the freezing cold for almost 45 minutes to be able to get in. Once in, you were allowed to pet the cats, but not if they were sleeping (and almost all of them were sleeping). You also couldn’t pick up the cats. So the kids just walked around looking at the cats and didn’t really get to play or pet many of them.

We cot hot chocolates for myself and the two older kids (Willow didn’t want any), which was really good but also pretty expensive. We stayed at the cafe for about 45 minutes, and then they came and told us we would have to leave because the table was reserved for later. This made no sense, because there were other people who had been at the cafe much longer than us and were not being kicked out and I don’t know why the people with a reservation couldn’t take another table (or we move to another table). Overall, it was quite disappointing.

Our friends the Senders came over to say goodbye because they are leaving before us. They have been great friends, and the kids are definitely going to miss having them around. We had been trading books for the kids, and traded books back before it was time to leave. Zoey got a chess set for Christmas, and she and Gabriel had fun playing a few games. For just learning how to play a few days ago, she is actually pretty good!

We are going to miss our new friends! They live in Virginia, so not too far of a drive. Hopefully we will get to see them sometime as we take more adventures, and the kids can become pen pals (or Facetime pals).
